Universitas Padjadjaran (UNPAD), established in 1957, is a leading public university located in Bandung, the capital city of West Java Province, Indonesia. The name “Padjadjaran” originates from the historical Sunda Kingdom, ruled by Prabu Siliwangi (Prabu Dewantaprana Sri Baduga Maharaja) in Pakuan Padjadjaran (1473–1513 AD), a figure remembered for his wisdom and leadership in Sundanese history. The name reflects Universitas Padjadjaran’s enduring commitment to excellence, integrity, and service to society. Guided by its core values—Excellent, Inclusive, and Impactful—the university strives to advance education and research that make meaningful contributions to national and global development.

Since 1977, Universitas Padjadjaran has developed its main campus in Jatinangor, near Bandung. According to West Java Governor Decree No. 593/3590/1987, the campus area spans 3,285.5 hectares, with 175 hectares allocated for university development. The relocation of faculties began in 1983, starting with the Faculty of Agriculture, and culminated in the official move of the Rectorate building to Jatinangor on January 5, 2012.

Currently, Unpad offers a wide range of study programs at the vocational, undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, and professional levels across various fields of study. As a Legal Entity State University, Unpad enjoys academic and institutional autonomy that supports innovation, international collaboration, and continuous quality improvement.

Today, Universitas Padjadjaran consists of 16 Faculties and 2 Schools—the Graduate School and the Vocational School—offering a diverse range of study programs from undergraduate to postgraduate levels. The university offers comprehensive academic opportunities in various disciplines, including Medicine, Dentistry, Law, Economics, Psychology, Communication, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Agriculture, Pharmacy, Social and Political Sciences, and many more. Vocational programs emphasize practical and industry-ready skills, while graduate and doctoral programs focus on advancing research and innovation across various fields.

UNPAD actively promotes internationalization through its 14 international undergraduate programs, which are designed to provide high-quality education with global competencies and attract students from around the world. These programs include: Medicine, Accounting, Digital Business, Islamic Economics, Economics, Management, Business Administration, Fisheries Science, Communication Science, Dentistry, International Relations, Law, Marine Science, and Pharmacy.

In addition, Universitas Padjadjaran has recently developed three international master’s programs: Master’s in Public Administration, Master’s in Management, and Master’s in Political Science (with a concentration in International Relations). These programs aim to nurture future leaders and professionals with global competence and interdisciplinary insight.

UNPAD’s global engagement is further strengthened through more than fifty double degree collaborations with leading universities worldwide in various fields of study. Some of these partnerships include: Northampton University (United Kingdom), Chiba University (Japan), Ajou University (Korea), International Management Institute (Switzerland), Tohoku University (Japan), Queensland University (Australia), among others.

For the 2025/2026 academic year, Universitas Padjadjaran welcomed 11,375 new students, with an increasing number of international students joining its academic community each year. In 2025, it hosts more than 900 international students representing over 30 countries, enrolled in a diverse range of programs, from short-term mobility schemes to full degree-based studies.
