Master of Sustainable Tourism (AQAS Accreditation)

The Master Programme of Sustainable Tourism aims to provide students with the ability to design research proposals and carry out research on sustainable tourism, developing regional tourism destinations in Indonesia into tourist destinations on a national and international scale, applying knowledge about tourism in improving tourism destinations , and combining various tourism planning and development processes in overcoming tourism problems.

What is it About?

The Master’s Program in Sustainable Tourism has the following vision: To become an excellent educational institution in the field of community-based alternative sustainable tourism and science and technology, through social, cultural, economic and environmental synergy to improve the quality and competitiveness of Indonesian tourism in the world by 2024.


The Master’s Program in Sustainable Tourism prepares human resources who have Research and Development expertise in the field of Tourism and have the ability to apply the theories and concepts of Sustainable Tourism in the development process.

The Master’s Program in Sustainable Tourism aims to produce graduates who are professional and competent in the following areas:

  1. Improving the tourism economy in the community;

  2. Improving the creative economy of tourism in the community;

  3. Solving tourism spatial planning problems;

  4. Solutions to sustainable tourism problems.


What Will I Study?

This study program provides opportunities for students to acquire and enhance knowledge and abilities in tourism planning and development, research methods in tourism, cross-cultural and regional studies related to tourism, and sustainable tourism development.

Master's Program in Sustainable Tourism at Graduate School of UNPAD is the pioneer and the only one in Indonesia due to its multidisciplinary approach. Moreover, the program also adheres to criteria developed by the GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council), an organiztion which was created to to share knowledge and understanding related to sustainable tourism, including: sustainable management; socio-economic impacts; cultural impacts. These criteria are implemented in the Study Program.


Curriculum

The curriculum follows the Outcomes Based Education (OBE) curriculum approach. Alumni play an active role by providing input on evaluation materials for learning that have been carried out during their time as students. OBE is an education system that emphasizes what students can do best at the end of their learning experience. Alumni are a product of the learning that has been undertaken, so that the success of alumni can be used as a benchmark for the success of learning carried out to alumni. Alumni have a positive impact on curriculum quality and have important influence on curriculum assessment by various stakeholders towards study programs.
