What is it About?
General surgery training/study programe is a surgical specialist training programe at Universitas Padjadjaran Bandung whithin its academic health system that consist of National Referral Hasan Sadikin Hospital with its affiliated teaching hospitals in West Java, Indonesia.
What Will I Study?
The students (surgical resident) will study and be trained in basic surgical science and skills, and advanced general surgery in acute care surgery and critical care, Digestive Surgery, Oncology Surgery, Head and Neck Surgery, Urology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Neurosurgery and Orthopaedics and Traumatology.

Our training center has a long tradition of general surgery training since 1964 as a well known one of center of excellence in Indonesia. Until now our training programme has graduated 437 general surgeons who work at all provinces in Indonesia and many of them have prominent and distinguished roles in modernizing surgical training in Indonesia and advancing general surgery practices. Our study programme has been awarded excellent center by Indonesian Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Health (IAAHEH) in 2022. Our center is also regocnized as a leading center in endolaparoscopic and telerobotic surgery, and acute care surgery in Indonesia. Therefore our residents come from various region in Indonesia, from Banda Aceh in the west to Papua in the east. Some of overseas resident had also been trained in our training programme from East Timor.
Curriculum
Our curriculum follow the national currriculum endorsed by Indonesian Medical Council and College of Surgeons Of Indonesia in 2019 with specific local excellece in surgical oncology, minimally invasive surgery and acute care surgery. The length of study is 8 semester.
Career Paths
Graduated General Surgeon from Universitas Padjadjaran can work at various general hospitals from rural to district or national referral hospital in Indonesia. We are now preparing our resident to have membership of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinbrugh, so that they can work in International Hospital in Indonesia.
