Master of Public Health

The Master of Public Health (MPH) is a postgraduate-level program offered by the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Padjadjaran (FMUP).

What is it About?

The study Program was established in 2005 and has received an “A” accreditation at the national level. It serves as a platform for individuals seeking to enhance their skills in practical applications and research/innovation within the field of public health. Public health experts are expected to have the competencies of a manager, innovator, researcher, learner, community member, leader, and educator. The MPH-FMUP program places a strong emphasis on excellence in research, innovation, and the development of health technology.


What Will I Study?

In this program, students can acquire knowledge of the fundamentals of public health sciences, public health practices, research, and innovation in the field of public health.

The MPH-FMUP program provides opportunities for graduates from diverse fields and disciplines to study and conduct research in public health. The university's learning management system supports it, and students can access additional courses available through the system. They can also participate in research projects led by researchers at the FMUP from the first semester.

The program is ideal for students who aim to innovate and develop health technology in public health, both for hard and soft sciences. It is also suitable for professionals and practitioners from various fields and disciplines, as well as meeting the demands of future employment outcomes. There are options for advanced recognition programs and a fast-track option for students who wish to pursue a Doctoral degree.


Curriculum

The program can be completed within 3 to 4 semesters. The lectures are delivered through a combination of a learning management system (LMS), face-to-face instruction, synchronous and asynchronous online methods, and field practice.

During the first semester, students must complete Introductory courses, such as: “Basic of Public Health”, “Research Methodology”, “Biostatistics”, “Epidemiology”, “Philosophy”, “Research Management”, “Health Management”, “Health Policy”, “Social and Behavioural Sciences”, “Environmental and Occupational Health”, “Leadership and System Thinking”, and “Global Health”, among others, for a total of 20 credits. Students may start to think about their research project or follow under the research project umbrellas in the FMUP research center.


In the second semester, students choose courses to study based on their concentration/specialization/elective courses for a total of 17 credits. Concentration options are available in: “Community Nutrition”, “Health Management”, “Health Promotion”, “Health Planning”, “Environmental and Occupational Health”, “Reproductive Health”, and “Community Dental Health”.


During semesters 3 and 4, students conduct research projects with the guidance of their assigned supervisors.


Career Paths

Graduates of the MPH program can find employment in government or non-government organizations, private companies, independent practitioners, or health consultants.
