What Will I Study?

During this program, students will learn basic concept of epidemiology, statistics and various methodology in research. Students can choose one out of three concentration according to their preference (Spatial Epidemiology, Epidemiology in Infection Diseases and Epidemiology in Non Communicable Diseases). The Program also provide a chance to do field study experiences in faculty research centers or government institution according to student's research plan, furthermore students are also supervised to conduct their own research and learn how to make article for publication.

Curriculum

The program can be completed within 3 to 4 semesters with total of 45 Credits. The lectures are delivered through a combination of a learning management system (LMS), face-to-face instruction, synchronous and asynchronous online methods, and field practice.

During the first semester, students must complete introductory courses, such as: “Philosophy of Knowledge, Ethics in Research and Academic Skill” , “Research Methodology”, “Biostatistics”, “Epidemiology”, “Research Management”, “Surveillance in Public Health”, “Evidence Based Medicine”, for a total of 14 credits. Students may start to think about their research project or follow under the research project umbrellas in the faculty research center.


In the second semester, students will take total course of 18 credits including “Advanced Epidemiology”, “Management and Data Analysis with R”. “Advanced Statistics”, “Methodology in Survey”, “Planning in Epidemiology Research” and field studies in various government and non-government institution. Beside that, students also choose courses based on their preference concentration which offered in 3 specialization, “Spatial Epidemiology”, “Epidemiology in Infection Diseases” and “Epidemiology in Non Communicable Diseases”

During semesters 3 and 4, students will conduct research projects with the guidance of their assigned supervisors.


Career Paths

Epidemiologist are needed in government or non-government organizations, private companies, independent practitioners, or health consultants.
