Master of Environmental Science (AQAS Accreditation)

The viewpoints of social science and natural science are brought together in an effort to foster synergy within the context of the Master Programme of Environmental Science.

This is further elaborated in a curriculum that is created in such a way that students acquire both theoretical and practical knowledge in the environmental field in a manner that blends the natural and social sciences.


The topics covered in each of these distinct classes are designed to provide students with an integrated theoretical and practical knowledge base. Every student in the Master's Programme in Environmental Science is required to follow a curriculum that covers the essentials of topics linked to sustainable environmental management. 


Education at Master Program on Environmental Science, Graduate School Unpad is held based on a semester credit system. The courses offered consist of: 46.7% Compulsory Courses, including: Environmental Science, Human Ecology, Philosophy of Science, Research Methodology and Advanced Statistics, Natural Resources Management, Natural Resources and Environment Economics and Environmental Policy and Law. Expertise Courses (Specialization) 44.4%, underlying a field of science and 8.9% Elective courses.


The cumulative study load and length of education for Master Program on Environmental Science is 40 or 41 credits (according to concentration) which is scheduled to be equivalent to 4 (four) semesters, including 6 credits of thesis preparation. One credit consists of 1 hour of class course and 3-4 hours of outside class academic activities (course preparation, assignment, library works, and group discussion) with the average of 40 hours course per semester the total of 1640 hours that equivalent with 65.5 ECTS. The double degree class curriculum is designed to be directed at the credit exchange system between Master Program on Environmental Science, Graduate School Unpad and partner universities abroad. With this system, the value of 1 credit is equal to 1 ECTS applicable at the University of Twente. Likewise, only 1 credit is equivalent to 1 credit applicable at Mie University.
