Unpad ASEAN Scholarship

The UNPAD ASEAN Scholarship is a flagship initiative by Universitas Padjadjaran designed to strengthen academic collaboration and regional ties within ASEAN. The scholarship offers outstanding students and professionals from ASEAN member states opportunities to study and engage in transformative learning experiences at UNPAD. 

 

The scholarship is offered through three tracks: 

  1. Master’s Leadership Track – Focused on nurturing future leaders with advanced knowledge and strategic skills to drive positive change in their communities and countries. 

  2. Master’s Excellence Track – Designed for students seeking academic excellence in specialized Master’s programs across UNPAD’s faculties. 

  3. Visiting Grant – Provides short-term opportunities for scholars, professionals, and students to engage in research, training, or academic collaboration at UNPAD.

Through these tracks, the UNPAD ASEAN Scholarship fosters regional integration, cultural exchange, and leadership development, contributing to a network of ASEAN professionals committed to sustainable development and cross-border cooperation. 

Program Types

UAS Master’s Leadership Track 

Shaping ASEAN Leaders for Global Impact 

Program Overview: The UAS Master Leadership Track is designed for ASEAN nationals currently serving in middle- to senior-level management positions in government, public institutions, private enterprises, NGOs, or academia. This fully funded master’s program at Universitas Padjadjaran equips participants with advanced knowledge, leadership skills, and research capabilities to address regional and global challenges. Participants can choose to enroll in a Master’s program delivered entirely in English or in Bahasa Indonesia, allowing them to align with their language preferences and professional needs. 

Eligibility: 

● Citizen of an ASEAN member country (including Timor Leste, excluding Indonesia) 

● Holds a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from a recognized institution 

● Must not currently hold, or have previously completed, a Master’s degree in any field. 

● Demonstrate academic excellence with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3.0/4.0. 

● Minimum of three years of professional experience at the middle-management level or higher 

● Strong leadership track record in their field 

● Language proficiency in the program’s language of instruction (English or Bahasa Indonesia) 

● Commitment to return and contribute to the home country after completion 

UAS Master’s Excellence Track 

Fostering Professional Excellence and Regional Impact 

Program Overview: The UAS Master Development Track is open to all talented ASEAN citizens seeking to pursue a master’s degree at Universitas Padjadjaran with full financial support. This program aims to nurture the next generation of researchers, academics, and professionals who will contribute to sustainable development and regional cooperation. Participants can choose to enroll in a Master’s program delivered entirely in English or in Bahasa Indonesia, allowing them to study in their preferred language environment. 

Eligibility: 

● Citizen of an ASEAN member country (including Timor Leste, excluding Indonesia) 

● Holds a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from a recognized institution 

● Must not currently hold, or have previously completed, a Master’s degree in any field. 

● Demonstrate academic excellence with a minimum GPA equivalent to 3.0/4.0. 

● Language proficiency in the program’s language of instruction (English or Bahasa Indonesia) 

● Commitment to return and contribute to the home country after completion

Scholarship Benefits

  • Tuition fee waiver for the duration of the Master’s program (up to 3 semesters) 

  • Free student visa application, KITAS, and stay permit processing for the study period; costs covered 

  • Return economy class airfare reimbursement, up to a maximum of IDR 10.000.000 (only once, maximum IDR 5,000,000 for each departure) 

  • Monthly living allowance (Rp 4.000.000 per month, including monthly accommodation [on or off campus] cost based on participant perferences) 

  • Settlement allowance (one-time, Rp 1.500.000) 

  • Health insurance coverage during the study period (around Rp 6.000.000 per year) 

  • Indonesian language course (Rp 12.000.000, up to 1 semester, available to applicants who do not meet the required Indonesian language proficiency but are applying to a master's program taught in Indonesian) 

  • Research/thesis writing support fund (one-time after successful thesis proposal, Rp 10.000.000) 

Admission & Language Proficiency Requirements 

a) Admission Procedure 

  • Applicants must apply online via the official UNPAD international admission portal. 

  • Applicants are required to pay the international admission registration fee of Rp 1.500.000. 

  • Applicants are required to check the Unpad ASEAN Scholarship category in the scholarship section while completing the application. 

  • All applicants must provide all required documents and complete all necessary data. 

  • Upon successful completion of the administration selection stage, applicants are required to take an academic potential test (TKA) and an interview as part of the academic selection process. 

  • Acceptance into the Master’s program is subject to UNPAD’s admission regulations. 

  • All successful applicants will receive the Letter of Acceptance, followed by the signing of a commitment letter prior to enrollment. 

b) Language Requirements 

Applicants must fulfill at least one of the following criteria, depending on the language of instruction for their program: 

 

Documents and Requirements for Master’s Track 

  • All applicants must submit the following documents in English: 

  • Valid Passport (of minimum 18 months) 

  • Personal Statement and Study Plan 

  • Two Letters of Recommendation (at least one academic referee and one professional referee; alternatively, both may be academic referees) 

  • Official bachelor’s degree certificate and academic transcript 

  • Proof of English proficiency, official documents, or school profiles verifying that all courses were conducted in English (Applicable only if the entire bachelor’s curriculum was completed in English). 

  • Letter of Statement confirming compliance with scholarship rules (after successful acceptance) 

 

All documents must be in English or accompanied by a certified English translation. Incomplete or missing documents will result in disqualification.

  • For applicants who do not meet the Indonesian language proficiency requirement but enroll in a regular Master’s program (program taught in Bahasa Indonesia), must attend a one-semester Indonesian language (Indonesian for non-native speakers) program prior to starting the Master’s degree. 

  • Applicants who pass BIPA 2 course are eligible to start their master's degree studies at their chosen programmes for 3 (three) semesters. 

  • Applicants who fail to meet language requirements after one semester BIPA program period may have their scholarship suspended or terminated.
